In furtherance of effective management of traffic and transportation in Lagos, the State Government has inaugurated a Committee to monitor parks spread across the metropolis to further sanitise their activities.
The inauguration, which took place on Thursday at the Ministry of Transportation, was presided over by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Mr. Oluwatoyin Fayinka.
The Special Adviser in his address to the newly constituted 11-man Committee, urged them to adhere strictly by the guidelines set for overseeing all the parks without misrepresentation.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transportation, Mr. Sewedo Oluseyi Whenu charged the newly inaugurated Committee to handle their duties with civility so that the desired impact is felt in the transportation sector.
Whenu promised support for the Committee, through provision of the necessary tools to make their task easy, stating that the Committee is expected to provide weekly reports on the level of progress.
The Director, Transport Operation, Engr. Gbolahan Toriola, advised the Parks Monitoring Committee to ensure orderliness in motor parks in line with the Transport Sector Reform Law, and the State Government’s White Paper 2012.
He stated that the 11-man committee headed by Mr. Oluwayemisi Tella will be aided by two Management Members in the Legal and Secretarial relations departments in order to supervise operations and provide feedback to the Ministry on the progress achieved.
