Tragedy was averted in Lagos State on Sunday as a trailer overturned and fell into the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) terminal in the Oshodi area of the state.
EKO HOT BLOG gathered that the trailer with number plate, KTU 437 XU, was heading towards Mile 2 when the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon.
The empty truck, it was learnt, developed a mechanical fault, overturned, and fell while descending Oshodi Bridge.
The prompt intervention of emergency responders saved Lagos residents, including hawkers, roadside traders, transporters, and commuters from being trapped in the accident.
As gathered by EKO HOT BLOG, the incident was confirmed by the Director-General of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, noting that no casualty was recorded.

The LASEMA boss said, “Director of Operations, LASTMA, got a distress call about an empty trailer that plunged into the above location.
“The agency team at the main base immediately activated the LASEMA response plan and moved to the incident scene.
“On arrival at the scene of the incident, the LRT discovered a trailer with number plate, KTU 437 XU, overturned due to mechanical fault (brake failure) while descending the bridge and fell into the BRT terminal, thereby obstructing the axis,” Oke-Osanyintolu stated.
The LASEMA DG added that the agency’s team and LASTMA were making efforts to evacuate the impediment off the road.
