No fewer than Four people lost their lives on Sunday when a speeding car lost control and crashed into a stationary tricycle.
The ghastly accident, which involved a navy blue Toyota Camry with number plate LSR-724 FW, happened around 3 pm on Atlantic Road area of Epe.
The car veered off the road after losing control and crashed into a stationary Tricycle that was being washed by the roadside killing the owner who was washing it in the process..
By the same token, the three male occupants of the car also died on the spot.
Speaking with EkoHotBlog, an officer of the federal road safety corps (FRSC), Osu Omidiji said all the victims had died before they got to the scene of the accident, adding that the family members of the victims will be contacted and informed about the unfortunate incident.
An eye witnessed, Olowo Sheriff, who spoke with EkoHotBlog, disclosed that soldiers on the highway way confirmed, after the incident, that the driver had been on the highest speed right from ijebu-ode but all effort to stop him proved abortive, adding that the accident happened on the high way after his tire bursted
The Nigeria Police Force from Odo-Noforija Divisional Headquarters Epe, were said to have responded to the distress call but this was too late as the victims were presumed dead on the spot.
Confirming the incident, a mortuary attendant at Epe General Hospital, Mr Odumade Ogunyemi said the police handed over the four bodies and they have been deposited in the mortuary. He added that the fifth person is in coma.
The police, however, said efforts are made to reach out to the families of victims but their phones were passworded, adding that it awaits calls from their families on their phones. Only the tricyclist was recognized by co-tricyclists, it disclosed.
The Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Oke- Osanyintolu confirmed the incident.
The latest developments is another in series of unfortunate but avoidable automobile mishap on the axis.
This incident has further reinforced the need to place a speed breaker that will deter speed addict on the road.
It has become quite imperative for the government to, as a matter of urgency, place a bump on the road in order to avoid further loss of lives.
