The care home, which opened 16 years ago as a retirement centre, now specializes in caring for individuals with dementia and mental health conditions, according to local reports.
Emergency services were alerted around 05:00 (04:00 GMT), and firefighters quickly extinguished the flames.
The ages of the victims have not yet been disclosed. Two other individuals were hospitalized, including one in critical condition, the town’s mayor, Volga Ramírez, told Spanish radio station Cadena Ser.
She suggested the fire may have started from a mattress igniting in one of the rooms.
Witnesses reported minimal fire damage to the single-story building, with smoke inhalation being the likely cause of the high death toll.
“My husband went in to help rescue people. You couldn’t even breathe because of the smoke,” the mayor told reporters.

This incident comes nine years after a similar fire in the Zaragoza area claimed nine lives at another retirement home.
