Eko Hot Blog reports that John Okafor, widely known by his stage name Mr. Ibu, has allegedly died at the age of 66.
The iconic Nigerian comedian was said to have allegedly passed away today, March 2nd, 2024 at Evercare Hospital in Lagos.
The news emerged on Facebook and Twitter, with multiple accounts stating that Mr. Ibu had allegedly died. However, no statement has come yet from the family to confirm his reported death.
Mr. Ibu gained fame through Nollywood films in the 1990s and 2000s, where he became renowned for his humorous characters and ability to make audiences laugh.
Movies like Mr. Ibu, Mr. Ibu in London and Police Recruit helped cement his status as one of Nigeria’s most beloved comedians.
The actor would have turned 67 years old in October this year. His representatives have not issued any comment on the circulating news of his alleged death today.
