  • Lookman’s previous experience in the Premier League enhances his appeal to potential suitors.

The Mirror reports that Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman is “under consideration” by West Ham United as a potential signing.

However, journalist Dan Bardell suggests that West Ham would need to sell key players in order to afford Lookman.

Last Wednesday, the Nigerian striker netted a hat-trick in the Europa League final, grabbing the attention of numerous teams.

Currently valued at €30 million, his market worth could rise to €40 million during the summer transfer window.

Throughout this season, he has amassed 10 goals and seven assists in 30 Serie A matches.

He featured in 21 starting lineups and making nine appearances as a substitute.

Across all competitions, he boasts a total of 16 goals and nine assists in 44 games.

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, Bardell said, “I think his value has gone up by about £10m.

I just look at him and think is he the type of player that, unless someone is leaving like Bowen or Kudus, West Ham should prioritise.

He said further “I wouldn’t envisage him being a move that happens.

“I wouldn’t think that his position is a priority, that type of player for West Ham.

“Because unless someone leaves they already have very good options in there.”

Another factor that might intensify West Ham’s interest in the player is the recent development regarding Lucas Paqueta.

If he faces a prolonged ban, new coach Julen Lopetegui may need to bolster the attacking options.

Especially for Kudus and Bowen, who would be the sole players capable of operating from the flanks.

The 26-year-old Lookman has prior experience in the Premier League, having played for Everton, Fulham, and Leicester City.

He joined Everton on January 5, 2017, signing a four-and-a-half-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

Initially reported as £7.5 million, potentially rising to £11 million with add-ons.

In his time at Everton, he featured in 36 matches across three seasons, registering just one goal and two assists before being transferred to Leipzig for €18 million.

During his time at Leipzig, Lookman returned to the Premier League on loan with Fulham in 2020.
