Eko Hot Blog reports that Belgium’s Jupiler Pro League team, Club Brugge, has allegedly set a £20m price tag on Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika, who is being watched by English Premier League club Crystal Palace.
According to The Sun, Crystal Palace’s top scout, Dougie Freedman, watched the Nigerian international play for the Belgian side last week and is poised to make a move for him.
Onyedika, 23, has recently garnered attention for his goal-scoring prowess at Brugge, where he is contributing significantly to their title bid.
Brugge currently sits second in the title playoffs, just two points behind leaders Anderlecht.
In the past two weeks, he scored a brace in their 3-1 win over the leaders and added another goal during their 3-0 victory over Royal Antwerp.
Crystal Palace duo, Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze
His consistency has led to him playing 42 games for Club Brugge in all competitions this season, scoring four goals and providing two assists.
Palace isn’t fazed by Onyedika’s £20m price tag, especially with the uncertainty surrounding the futures of Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze.
The Eagles are struggling to retain both players, and the transfer fees for them will likely cover Onyedika’s move.
Onyedika, who joined Nicky Hayen’s side in 2022 from Midtjylland, quickly established himself as a key player at the Jan Breydel Stadium. He has featured 82 times for Brugge and his current deal runs until June 30, 2027.
The Nigerian midfielder played a pivotal role in helping Brugge reach the Europa Conference League semi-finals, where they will face Fiorentina.
