With the January transfer window just a few weeks away, Liverpool have again been linked with a move for Porto winger Luis Diaz, of whom Jurgen Klopp is said to be a big admirer.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Reds are set to lose both Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane to the Africa Cup of Nations in January and Klopp is keen to bring in reinforcement to help carry the attacking burden in their absence.

Reports in Portugal suggest that the German coach is considering a January offer for Diaz, although Liverpool would want to land him for considerably less than his 80 million euro release clause. Porto had been inflexible on this previously, but it is now thought they have lowered their demands.
Klopp and Liverpool were able to get a close look at the 24-year-old in the Champions League this season and it seems the Porto forward passed his auditions against the Reds.
In 19 games in all competitions, Diaz has 12 goals this season for Porto, including five in his last three Liga Bwin matches. That’s the sort of proven firepower Liverpool need if they are to keep pace with Manchester City and Chelsea while Salah and Mane are on international duty.
f the clubs can agree a fee, this is a signing that would appear to make a lot of sense for Liverpool. They clearly need another attacker to see them through the early part of 2022 and, despite the dominance of Mane, Salah and Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota has proven that there are minutes to be had in the Liverpool attack even when they are all available.
Furthermore, at 24 years old, Diaz should still have his best years ahead of him and would be an investment in the future as well as short-term cover. Adding a player of his talent would increase Liverpool’s depth and steel their title credentials.
