Maupay, who joined Everton from Brighton in 2022, managed just one goal in 32 appearances for the Toffees.
Last season, he was loaned to his former club Brentford, where he found the net eight times in 31 games.
With Maupay entering the final year of his contract at Goodison Park, he had yet to feature in either of Everton’s first two Premier League matches this season.
The move to Marseille reunites him with former Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi.
In addition to Maupay, Marseille has also signed Mason Greenwood and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this summer.
Meanwhile, Everton has brought in Jake O’Brien, Iliman Ndiaye, and Tim Iroegbunam during the transfer window and is hopeful of finalizing a loan deal for Lyon midfielder Orel Mangala, 26, before the window closes.
