Transfer: Newcastle Eye £113m Move For Victor Osimhen
Newcastle United have entered the race to sign Victor Osimhen in 2025, with the club’s owners, the Public Investment Fund, reportedly prepared to activate the Nigerian striker’s £113m release clause.
According to Chronicle Live’s Lee Ryder, the Magpies are among several clubs that will be offered the opportunity to sign the 25-year-old, who is currently on loan at Turkish side Galatasaray from Napoli.

Osimhen has been in exceptional form since joining Galatasaray in September, scoring eight goals in nine appearances across all competitions, including six goals in six Turkish Super Lig matches.
His most recent performance came in Sunday’s 3-2 win over Samsunspor, where he scored twice to help maintain Galatasaray’s unbeaten run and extend their lead at the top of the Turkish Super Lig to six points.
Roma manager Jose Mourinho, who has long praised Osimhen’s abilities, believes the Nigerian is well worth a major investment.
“Osimhen is a fantastic player. He is a player that if I was in a club with the potential to pay £70-75m, I would buy,” Mourinho told The Independent.
Portuguese manager José Mourinho’s admiration for Victor Osimhen is reportedly encouraging his current club, Fenerbahce, to consider making a bid for the Nigerian striker that could surpass Galatasaray’s €50 million offer for a permanent transfer.
However, Napoli’s Sporting Director Giovanni Manna has clarified the minimum price for Osimhen, saying, “There are many clubs interested in Victor Osimhen. Galatasaray cannot secure him unless they pay a net fee of €75 million.”
Newcastle United’s interest in Osimhen comes after a quiet summer transfer window, with manager Eddie Howe eager to boost his attacking options. The idea of pairing Osimhen with current forward Alexander Isak has generated excitement among fans, although financial regulations at St James’ Park may complicate any potential move.

Chelsea, along with several Saudi Pro League clubs, also remain interested in the striker following failed attempts to sign him last summer, setting the stage for a competitive race for his signature in 2025.
Meanwhile, Fenerbahce Vice President Acun Ilıcalı has expressed reservations about pursuing Osimhen, citing the club’s current forward lineup, which includes Edin Dzeko, Youssef En-Nesyri, and Cenk Tosun. “Who will play?” Ilıcalı questioned during a recent television appearance.
