Mohamed Salah has revealed that there has been no progress in talks over extending his Liverpool contract, with a breakthrough “far away.”
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Egypt international, who has entered the final six months of his current deal, is now eligible to negotiate with non-English clubs about a potential free transfer this summer.
At 32, Salah has been in superb form this season, scoring 20 goals across all competitions and helping Liverpool lead both the Premier League and Champions League standings.

When asked if this could be his final season at Anfield, he told Sky Sports, “So far, yes. It’s the last six months. There is no progress there. We are far away from any progress. So, we just need to wait and see.”
When asked about the possibility of winning the Premier League this season, Mohamed Salah remarked, “It’s my last year at the club, so you want to do something special for the city.”
Salah has become more outspoken about his future at Liverpool in recent months. After a 3-0 victory over Manchester United in September, he mentioned he treated the game as if it were his “last time” playing at Old Trafford, a sentiment he echoed after Liverpool’s win over Manchester City last month.
In November, following a win over Southampton, Salah expressed disappointment over the lack of a contract offer, and reiterated on Monday after beating West Ham that any deal was still “far away.” Despite the ongoing speculation, Salah emphasized that he has managed to block out distractions and remain focused on his football.
He said: “The thing in my head is that if this is the last six months, what do you want to see in the future?
“Do you want to look back and say I was concerned or stressed about the contract? Or do you just want to say I had an unbelievable season? That’s what is in my head.

“If I ever feel distraction, I just remind myself I want to look back and say I had an unbelievable season. That’s what I want to do.”
Salah is the Premier League top scorer this season with 17 goals, three ahead of Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.
