FC Nantes confirmed Uchendu’s arrival in a statement on their official website, highlighting her as a valuable addition to their attacking line-up.
Uchendu’s career has taken her across various leagues, with stints at clubs such as SC Braga, Linköping FC, and Gyeongju KHNP, demonstrating her versatility and skill.
On the international stage, Uchendu has represented Nigeria, featuring in the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, where she scored a goal, and in the 2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where she played in the final and converted a penalty in the decisive shootout against South Africa.
Excited for the new challenge, Uchendu expressed her enthusiasm about joining FC Nantes and returning to France, a country she holds close to her heart.
“I am happy to join the FC Nantes club. I will discover this championship, which I know almost nothing about,” she told the club’s official website.
“But this is not the first time I have come to France. I took part in the World Cup in 2019 (Nigeria was eliminated by Germany in the round of 16).
