Trending Video: Man Protests Economic Hardship On Transmission Mast In Abuja

A man named Shuaibu Yusuf from Borno State on Monday scaled a transmission tower in Abuja, threatening to leap unless his demands were fulfilled.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the man had a hand-written note addressed to President Bola Tinubu, which contained his demands.

Yusuf demanded the reversal of the fuel subsidy removal policy, the reopening of the borders for food importation, declaration of a state of emergency on insecurity in Nigeria, and others.

While calling on other Nigerians to join him in protest, he expressed readiness to sacrifice his life in order to get a solution to the problems.

After numerous pleas from emergency responders, the man eventually descended from the mast and was subsequently apprehended by the police.

Recall that Nigerians have been experiencing economic hardship since subsidy removal was proclaimed by President Bola Tinubu during his inauguration speech on May 29, 2023.

The subsidy removal coupled with unification of forex rate has led to hike in prices of goods and services nationwide.
