Tribunal Strikes Down Parts Of Premier League’s APT Rules In Man City Case

However, the Premier League emphasized that the tribunal dismissed most of the club’s arguments, affirming the broader purpose, structure, and decision-making process of the APT system.
The APT rules are designed to scrutinize the value of sponsorship deals involving companies connected to a club’s owners.

It is important to note that this case is separate from the Premier League’s ongoing disciplinary proceedings against Manchester City, where the club faces 115 charges for alleged breaches of financial regulations, some dating back to 2009.
In its decision, the tribunal ruled that shareholder loans should not fall within the scope of the APT rules, and it invalidated certain amendments made by the Premier League in February.
