Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, reported that the troops neutralized the bandits during a patrol in the Kampanin Doka area.
During the operation, the troops recovered several items, including three AK-47 rifles, eight AK-47 magazines (four empty and four loaded with 120 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition), a magazine carrier, six motorcycles, three mobile phones, two Baofeng radio sets, and three pairs of civilian clothing.
The troops also engaged bandits in the Gayam area, killing one, while others are suspected to have escaped with gunshot wounds.
Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, praised the troops under the leadership of Major General MLD Saraso, General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation Whirl Punch (OPWP), for their courageous efforts and significant success.
In another similar development, Troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force, MNJTF, have arrested two suspects for allegedly supplying illicit drugs to the Boko Haram and Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) insurgents in Lake Chad region.
The suspects were also alleged to be supplying uniforms and flag materials to the insurgents.
This contained in a statement by Lt. Col. Olaniyi Osoba, spokesman of the MNJTF, on Thursday in Maiduguri.
He said that troops of the task force arrested one of the suspects (name withheld), along Kekeno – Cross Kauwa road in Borno, and recovered substantial quantity of substances and 198 parcels of Marijuana.
