EKO HOT BLOG reports that troops of the Nigerian Army on Sunday eliminated scores of ‘Unknown Gunmen’ in a fierce gun battle in Ekwulobia, Aguta Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State.
The incident happened at about 5:15 PM Nigerian time which reportedly led to heavy casualties on the side of the hoodlums.
A resident who pleaded Anonymous narrated the scenario: “The unknown came again today (Sunday) in Oko/Ekwulobia.
They were four in numbers with a Jeep. Coming down from Nanka road and heading towards Ekwulobia, they were repelled by the military. Shooting began and as usual, we took cover.
“The military killed one of them and prevented them from going further.
“Their vehicle is still in the hands of the military as the remaining might be hiding in nearby places around the zone.”
The shootout caused many residents to stay indoors yesterday (Sunday), as the roads were deserted in the evening.
Army spokesperson, Onyema Nwachukwu, could not be reached for comments, while the police spokesperson in the state, Tochukwu Ikenga, is yet to confirm the incident to this newspaper.
