Troops Repel Terrorists Incursion, Eliminate Scores In Borno

According to the Nigerian Army, Boko Haram terrorists were thwarted in their incursion into Damasak, the headquarters of the Mobbar Local Government Area of Borno, with the help of the Air Component of Operation Lafiya Dole (OPLD).
Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Yerima, Director of Army Public Relations, said in a statement on Monday that the performance was reported on April 10.
According to Yerima, the troops used superior firepower from the air and on the ground to force the attackers to flee in disarray, with many men and equipment casualties.
He said two brave soldiers paid the ultimate price in the fight, while one officer and two other soldiers were wounded, and that the injured were being treated at a military hospital in Maiduguri.

On Sunday, Sector I, OPLD troops on picketing duty along the Ngwom-Mafa-Maiduguri road neutralized seven members of the Boko Haram terrorist group and recovered four AK-47 rifles, according to Yerima.
According to him, troops who had been dominating the region with massive clearance patrols and ambushes launched a surprise assault on the terrorists who had been threatening the peace and livelihood of the locals.
“However, they were out of luck because they were caught and neutralized in their own network.
The troops continued their clearance patrol up to Maiduguri after the duel and successful neutralization of the terrorists.
“In the meantime, OPLD troops will maintain an aggressive stance to ensure that the entire region is cleared of terrorist groups and their operations while maintaining high morale and combat effectiveness.
Lt.-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, the Chief of Army Staff, congratulated the valiant troops and urged them to maintain their high and satisfactory morale and combat effectiveness, he said.
