Eko hot blog reports that In a recent operation, troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt on three commercial buses in Kogi State, rescuing the passengers onboard. This daring rescue comes as part of ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities across the country.
According to Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, the criminals ambushed the buses along the Akpata–Obajana Road in Lokoja local government area of Kogi State. However, swift action from the troops prevented the situation from escalating, leading to the rescue of the passengers and a confrontation with the criminals.
Several passengers who sustained injuries during the incident have been evacuated to receive medical attention.
In related operations, troops also neutralized four terrorists in Taraba and Zamfara States, recovering a cache of weapons in the process. In Taraba, two terrorists were eliminated during a firefight in the Mayinawa, Garin Daniel, and Garbatau axis of Bali local government area. These terrorists had been terrorizing the local communities until the troops intervened.
Additionally, in Zamfara State, troops raided a kidnappers’ den in the Kuyambana general area, engaging insurgents in a gun battle and eliminating two of them. The successful operation led to the recovery of various weapons and tools used in kidnappings.
Major General Nwachukwu emphasized the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to restoring peace and stability in troubled areas. He called for the public’s support and cooperation in ongoing security operations across the country, reaffirming the army’s dedication to safeguarding communities from criminal threats.
