We Are Yet To Receive 20 Trucks Of Rice From FG – Lagos, Borno
Lagos and Borno state officials confirm they have not yet received the 20 truckloads of rice promised by the federal government for distribution to vulnerable citizens.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture, Bisola Olusayan, and Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Director-General, Muhammad Saidu, confirmed on Thursday that their states have not yet received the 20 truckloads of rice promised by the federal government. This announcement was made during their appearance on NTA’s Good Morning program.
Previously, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, had reported that the federal government had dispatched 20 truckloads of rice to each of the 36 states as part of a relief effort. Each truckload contains 1,200 bags of 25kg rice, intended for distribution to vulnerable citizens to alleviate current hardships.

Olusayan clarified, “We received some palliatives from the federal government a few months back in April/May. We are expecting another consignment of 20 truckloads of rice, which we have not yet received.”
Echoing this, Saidu added, “We are yet to receive it but have been informed that it is on the way. We are preparing for its arrival to ensure immediate distribution upon receipt.”
The delay in the arrival of these consignments has raised concerns, given the pressing need to provide support to citizens amid ongoing economic challenges.
Speaking on how the state would distribute the rice to the vulnerable, Olusayan said Lagos State government has a social register that has about 2.8 million Lagos residents.
She added that community leaders would be involved to ensure the rice reach the vulnerable residents of the state. She said the state usually rebags the rice in 10kg bags to ensure it gets to more vulnerable residents.

He added that while most of the internally displaced persons have gone out of the internally displaced camps, the state government has data on how they can be reached.
