President Donald Trump has announced a Christmas bonus package for United States military personnel, saying about 1.45 million service members will each receive a $1,776 payment during the festive season.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the US President made the disclosure on Wednesday night during a speech at the White House, where he described the payment as a “warrior dividend” and claimed it was financed through revenue generated from tariffs.

Trump said the funds were already being processed for disbursement.

The announcement comes at a time when many Americans are grappling with rising costs of living, including higher food prices, rent, utilities and holiday expenses.
Recent economic data show that inflation remains elevated, with consumer prices increasing at an annual rate of about three per cent, while job growth has slowed significantly in recent months.
Trump, however, blamed the economic pressures on the previous administration, insisting that he inherited a fragile economy and is working to stabilise it.

He also pointed to gains in the stock market, reduced fuel prices and increased investments in artificial intelligence as signs of economic progress.
Despite these claims, broader indicators suggest a mixed outlook, as unemployment has edged up and tariff policies introduced earlier in the year have contributed to renewed inflationary pressures.
The speech is seen as part of the administration’s effort to reassure the public and reinforce support for the military ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
