Trump Hosts Argentina’s President Milei Ahead Of CPAC Summit
Donald Trump described it as an “honour” to host Argentina’s President Javier Milei in Florida, marking the first meeting between Trump and a foreign leader since his November 5 U.S. presidential election victory.
The meeting took place on Thursday at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort during a gala ahead of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) Investor Summit. Milei congratulated Trump on his victory, calling it evidence that “the forces of heaven [are] on our side.”

The Argentine leader is slated to attend the CPAC Investor Summit on Friday, an event focused on conservative policies and investment opportunities.
Addressing attendees at the America First Policy Institute gala, Milei said Trump’s win signaled that “the winds of freedom [are] blowing much stronger.” Speaking in both English and Spanish, the self-proclaimed “anarcho-capitalist” criticized tax systems that enforce “wealth redistribution at gunpoint” and praised Elon Musk, who is set to lead Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency, for his efforts to “save humanity” through his social media platform X.
Milei, known for his admiration of Trump, first met him at CPAC in February, where he enthusiastically greeted the former U.S. president with a hug. At Thursday’s gala, Trump expressed his admiration for Milei, calling him “a MAGA person” and applauding his leadership: “Make Argentina Great Again… he’s doing that.”
Reports in Argentinian media suggest that Milei plans to pursue a free trade agreement with the U.S. under Trump’s administration. Speaking to La Nación, Milei noted, “The elected [Trump] government feels much more comfortable working with me than with other governments, and that has commercial and financial implications.”

The CPAC Investor Summit, which features high-profile conservative speakers, charges up to $25,000 (£19,350) per ticket. Reform UK leader Nigel Farage and former British Prime Minister Liz Truss were among the speakers at the annual CPAC event earlier this year.
Trump’s recent election victory has granted the Republican Party full control of the U.S. government, a political landscape reminiscent of his first term in 2017.
