United States President, Donald Trump has been seen in Afghanistan on Thursday evening, meeting with his Afghan counterpart Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and spending Thanksgiving with U.S. troops stationed in the country.
speaking after the meeting with Afghan president, Trump said “In our bilateral meeting, we discussed the important progress we have jointly made in our military efforts in the battlefield, including crushing the Daesh (Islamic State or IS group) in eastern Afghanistan.
He also told troops at Bagram Air Base that “the Taliban wants to make a deal. We’ll see if they want to make a deal. It’s got to be a real deal, but we’ll see. But they want to make a deal.”
The visit came amid unprecedented tensions between the President and senior military officers following the ouster of Navy Secretary Richard Spencer.
