Eko Hot Blog reports that Trump made the announcement on his social media platform, Truth Social, on Sunday, claiming the payment would go to all Americans except high-income earners.

He wrote, “A dividend of at least $2000 a person (not including high income people!) will be paid to everyone,” but did not specify when or how the payments would be made.

The president’s promise comes as millions of Americans face the impact of the prolonged shutdown, with many federal workers going without pay, air travel disrupted, and food aid programmes at risk.
