EKO HOT BLOG reports that Stephanie Grisham, the former White House press secretary who preceded Kayleigh McEnany as ex-president Donald Trump’s press secretary, has launched a scathing attack on Trump, expressing no surprise at his recent lashing out at McEnany.
The controversy began when McEnany, 35, stated on Fox News that Trump was leading Florida Governor Ron DeSantis by 25 points in Iowa polls, which Trump claimed was an underestimate. In response, Trump took to his Truth Social platform on May 30 to criticize McEnany, misspelling “milquetoast” and dubbing her “Kayleigh ‘Milktoast’ McEnany.”
Grisham, 46, who served as White House press secretary in 2019, discussed Trump’s attack on McEnany during an interview with CNN’s Jim Acosta. Grisham remarked that Trump’s rant was consistent with his character, stating, “This is what he does. He uses you until there is no use for you anymore, or until you dare to say something that could possibly be construed against him.”
Grisham highlighted McEnany’s loyalty to Trump during her tenure as press secretary from April 2020 until Trump left office, particularly emphasizing her dedication in the aftermath of the events on January 6. Grisham added that she was not surprised by Trump’s outburst, asserting that anyone working with him should expect such treatment once they are no longer deemed useful.
Taking to Twitter, Grisham further expressed her thoughts, warning, “He. WILL. Turn. On You. There is only loyalty to HIM – not the country, the constitution, his constituents, or anything/anyone else.”
Critics on Twitter quickly rallied to defend McEnany, echoing Grisham’s sentiments that McEnany had always been loyal to Trump as his press secretary.
The exchange between Trump and McEnany, along with Grisham’s subsequent remarks, highlights the tumultuous dynamics within Trump’s inner circle and sheds light on the loyalty demanded by the former president.
The incident serves as a reminder of Trump’s tendency to discard individuals when they no longer serve his purposes or if they voice opinions that could be perceived as unfavorable to him.
