Trump’s Bombing Threats: Iran Vows Retaliation, Hints at Nuclear Response

Iran has issued a stern warning to the United States, stating that it may have no option but to pursue nuclear weapons if attacked.

Ali Larijani, a senior adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, delivered the warning during a state TV interview on Monday night.

His remarks follow threats from U.S. President Donald Trump, who told NBC News on Saturday that “there will be bombing” if Iran does not agree to a new nuclear deal.

Earlier, Khamenei had vowed retaliation should the U.S. president follow through on his threats against the Islamic Republic.

“We are not pursuing nuclear weapons, but if you [the U.S.] make a mistake regarding Iran’s nuclear issue, you will force Iran to reconsider its stance in order to defend itself,” Larijani stated. “Iran does not want to take this path, but it will have no choice.”

He further cautioned that any military action, whether directly by the U.S. or through its ally Israel, could lead Iran to alter its nuclear strategy.

It remains unclear whether Trump was referring to U.S. airstrikes alone or a coordinated military operation involving another nation, potentially Israel, a longtime adversary of Iran.

The rising tensions come amid stalled negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program, with Tehran insisting that the U.S. must shift its approach before any meaningful talkscan take place.
