EKO HOT BLOG reports that Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), through his counsel is claiming that a tuberculosis outbreak has occurred at the Department of State Services (DSS) headquarters in Abuja.

According to Kanu’s special counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, who visited the pro-Biafra activist on Thursday, many inmates at the facility have allegedly tested positive for tuberculosis. Ejimakor urged the Nigerian government to alert the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Red Cross Society for intervention to prevent an epidemic of the disease.

Kanu’s brother also expressed concern over the alleged outbreak of tuberculosis at the DSS headquarters and wondered if it was a deliberate ploy to infest Nnamdi Kanu with tuberculosis. He called for urgent action to avert an epidemic of infectious disease.

Kanu had first raised the alarm of tuberculosis at the facility when he claimed that an inmate suffering from the disease was relocated close to his cell block. The infected inmate was reportedly arrested in Ohafia in September 2022 and transferred to the DSS facility.

Ejimakor also noted that Kanu’s health was failing and needed urgent attention. He observed Kanu’s noticeable discomfort, malaise, and general ill health while visiting him.
