Legendary Nigerian cinematographer and African storyteller, Tunde Kelani, is the latest Nigerian named in the new diverse list of 842 members just announced by the Academy of Motion Picture, Arts and Sciences.
In bagging the honour, Kelani joins two other notable Nigerian-born figures added to the committee, in notable Hollywood actor, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Triple-A) for acting and the fast-rising Chinonye Chukwu for writing.
Kelani, one of Nigeria’s most acclaimed producers and directors is known for classics including “Saworoide”, “Agogo Eewo”, “Koseegbe”, “Arugba” and “Maami” is the third person from Nollywood on the list, following Nollywood veteran, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde and Femi Odugbemi added in 2018.
Ngozi Onwurah and Wunmi Mosaku were the two others.
