EKO HOT BLOG Tunisia has issued an international arrest warrant for former President Moncef Marzouki, according to official news agency TAP, a month after he called on France to stop its support for the present regime.
There was no word on what accusation Marzouki was facing, but current President Kais Saied launched an investigation last month into what he called claims that Marzouki had colluded against state security.

Saied has faced rising international condemnation since assuming executive authority in July, then ignoring much of the constitution to take near-total power in acts that Marzouki and other opponents have labeled a coup.
Saied announced a new administration in October and pledged a national “conversation,” but has yet to put out a concrete strategy to restore regular constitutional order, as donors have demanded.
Marzouki told Al Jazeera TV that the arrest order did not surprise him and that it was “a threatening message to all Tunisians.”
Marzouki, who has spent the last few weeks in France, served as president from 2011 to 2014. France was a previous colonial power in Tunisia and still has great authority.
According to the Tunis First Instance Court’s communications office, the arrest warrant was issued by the investigating judge in charge of Marzouki’s case.
