Tunji Alausa Hails Leadership Of FMC Lagos, Promises More Support For Service Enhancement

Eko Hot Blog reports that the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Tunji Alausa, has hailed the leadership the Federal Medical Centre, Ebute Metta Lagos State, for its optimal administration.
He gave the commendation during his visit to the hospital last week as part of his tour of medical facilities in Lagos.

The visit witnessed the minister being guided by the hospital’s Medical Director, Dr. Dada Adedamola, through the new annex facilities located in the sprawling site.
The new facilities were donated by the Lions Club International, a non-governmental charitable organization with a mission to enhance community development in Nigeria and the nation as a whole.
During the tour, Dr. Alausa noted that he was impressed by the hospital’s cleanliness and made a heartfelt gesture by financially rewarding the diligent cleaners for their commendable work.
Addressing journalists, the minister spoke in glowing terms about Dr. Adedamola’s leadership.
“I want to commend the Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Dada, for his hard work. It takes commitment, a lot of energy to build an edifice like this that functions effectively and provides a wide range of services to the people. He deserves a great deal of commendation,” he said.
Dr. Alausa went on to discuss the challenges that come with the natural progression of healthcare facilities and the need for expansion.
“When this hospital was built 80 years ago, this is what happens in every part of the world. As we become more organized, space becomes a constraint. What we have to do, as it’s done here, is to go vertical,” he said.
“We can’t expand horizontally anymore; we must build up. That’s what Dr. Dada has achieved here. You can see the premises, well-paved and well-tiled, devoid of dust. They still have some buildings that can be demolished for further expansion if the need arises.
“One significant achievement is the collaboration with the railway corporation, which has provided them with a vast expanse of land for further capacity expansion.”
Dr. Adedamola, while speaking to reporters, expressed his appreciation for the Minister’s visit, emphasizing its significance.
He also elaborated on the hospital’s operations, accomplishments, and their areas of need where government’s intervention is crucial.
“It was a fantastic visit, and he came to inspect our hospital, as you can see, he’s been here for the past 5 hours, thoroughly examining every department,” the FMC boss said.
“He’s had the opportunity to witness our strengths and challenges, which will help him determine how he can offer support, enabling us to fulfill our mandate more effectively. We are delighted with the solutions he has proposed and eagerly anticipate further support.”
Dr. Adedamola also highlighted human resources as a primary challenge and hoped it would be addressed.
