EKO HOT BLOG reports that the minister spoke on Tuesday while presenting Kaka’s appointment letter to him. President Bola Tinubu had earlier approved the appointment.

The FMC, Epe, which was recently approved by the president, is expected to be operational by the end of 2024. Presenting the appointment letter to Kaka, Dr. Alausa expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for fulfilling one of his campaign promises of enhancing healthcare services.
“It was my pleasure to hand over the appointment letter to Dr. Adeleke Adesola Kaka, who has been appointed as the first acting Medical Director for the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Epe.
“On behalf of the people of Epe, my constituency, I extend my gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, GCFR, for his unwavering commitment to revamping the healthcare sector and ensuring that every Nigerian citizen has access to meaningful and comprehensive healthcare.
“As it stands, millions of people in Epe have to travel long distances to access healthcare.
“With the establishment of this Centre, residents from Epe Township as well as the northern and southern parts of Epe can now receive comprehensive healthcare closer to their homes, reducing the need for long journeys,” he said.
Addressing the new director of the FMC, Epe, the minister mandated him to establish the medical centre’s own Nursing School by next year.
He said this will enhance educational and career opportunities for young Nigerians and address the brain drain crisis.
“Additionally, as part of the Federal Ministry of Health’s strategy to expand the healthcare workforce, we have instructed FMC Epe to establish their own Nursing school by next year,” Dr. Alausa said.
“This initiative aims to improve educational and career opportunities for young Nigerians and address the brain drain crisis,” he stated.
The minister, who emphasized that the hospital would bring opportunities to the locality and its environs, assured of the ministry’s support for the new director, encouraging him to reach out to the ministry with any questions.
The Minister added that the Epe division and Nigerians appreciate the commitment of Lagos state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to improving healthcare.
“I also express my sincere gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwolu, for transferring Epe General Hospital to the Federal Government for conversion into a Federal Medical Centre,” Alausa said.
He also announced that a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with the Lagos State government will be signed in a few weeks, to pave the way for the hospital to commence operations before the end of the year.
On his part, the new acting director of FMC Epe, Dr. Kaka, expressed his gratitude to President Tinubu for expanding the frontiers of Lagos State.
He assured that he would do his best to ensure the success of the hospital.
Before his appointment, Dr. Kaka was the Medical Director of Gbagada General Hospital, Lagos.
