CP Disu, who turned 58 today, April 13, 2024, represents the finest of the Nigeria Police Force and it is imperative to celebrate officers like him. He’s the model of what the average Nigerian would want a policeman or policewoman to be.
He is best known for transforming the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Lagos State after his appointment in June 2015. The squad helped stem insecurity in the state while maintaining a cordial relationship with the public. The top police officer’s legacy at the RRS has endured as the squad remains active in fighting crimes in Lagos till date.
CP’s Disu uncommon attributes as a honest and effective police officer have deservedly earned him plenty of plaudits and promotion.
In July 2022, Usman Alkali Baba, the then inspector-general of police commended the Disu-led Force Intelligence Bureau Intelligence Response Team (FIB-IRT) for recent successes, which included the arrest of a fraud syndicate specialized in breaching bank accounts of individuals and corporate bodies.
Unsurprisingly, CP Disu was promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police in March 2023 by the Nigerian Police Service Commission. Eight months later, in November 2023, IGP Kayode Egbetokun tapped the police officer to head the Rivers State Police Command, an appointment that pronounced the enormous trust placed on the former Lagos RRS commander.
In an interview with Eko Hot Blog, the highly decorated police officer expressed gratitude to God for the grace to be a year older.
CP Disu also credited the support of his family, including his parents, for his effectiveness as a police officer. “Their support has been instrumental to keeping me on my toes and serving the public effectively,” he said.
Before the celebrant’s appointment as the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, he had served Nigeria in various administrative, investigative, and operational capacities in the Police Force.
CP Disu was the DCP, Department of Operations, Force Headquarters, Abuja, and previously served at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for Rivers Command as the Deputy Head of the Unit.
The Rivers police commissioner is well trained in administration and practice. He holds a B.A English (Education), PGD International Relations and Strategic Studies, MSc. Public Administration, Advanced Diploma in Forensic Investigation & Criminal Intelligence and MSc. Criminology, Security & Legal Psychology, indicating his status as a complete policeman.
The top police officer has attended several courses both within and outside Nigeria, and he is a member of several professional bodies including the International Academy of Forensics (IAF), National Association of Investigative Specialist, United States of America (NAIS), Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) amongst others.
CP Disu is also a Third Dan Blackbelter and celebrated medalist in Judo. The Eko Hot Blog Management wishes the unccomon police officer a happy birthday and many happy returns.
