Tunji Disu’s Daughter Weds Heartthrob As Sanwo-Olu, Hamzat, IGP, Others Honour Couple

Happily ever after begins with the union of two people bonded in love.

Eko Hot Blog witnessed the fairytale traditional wedding ceremony of Fikeyinmi Disu and Opeyemi Ogundeyi as they began their journey into holy matrimony on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at the All Season Event Centre, Ikeja, Lagos State.

The families, friends and well-wishers of Commissioner of Police, Tunji Disu, and Mrs Funmilola Disu and The Very Reverend Olutoyin and Olubunmi Ogendeyi gathered in their finest to witness this celebration of love.

The classy and glamourous ceremony was studded with dignitaries from all walks of life, including the wife of the Lagos State governor, Mrs Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, the Lagos State deputy governor, Dr Kadri Olufemi Hamzat, HRM, Oba Alayeluwa Saheed Ademola Elegushi, Kusenla III; the Olowo of Owo, HRM Oba Ajibade Ogunoye III, and representatives of other paramount rulers.

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, former commissioners of police and other notable members of Nigerian Police Force were present at the event.

The ceremony kicked off with an opening prayer after which came the introduction of the families and members of the High table. This duty was performed by the Alaga, the official master of ceremony and representatives of both families.

After the formalities, the Alaga announced the grand entrance of the groom and his entourage of friends as they came in dancing and went on to prostrate before the bride’s family, in asking for her hand in marriage.

The traditional rites of reading of the proposal letter, paying of the bride price, and presentation of the bride’s gifts were subsequently performed.

Afterwards, the beautiful bride danced in, amid fireworks, surrounded by her friends. She was presented to both families, as the Yoruba traditional marriage rites dictate. The rites were concluded, and Fikeyinmi and Opeyemi were officially bonded together in love and holy matrimony.

The reception followed in more glitz and glamour as guests were entertained with music, local and continental dishes, drinks and much more.

The couple performed their first marital duty together by cutting their wedding cake amid prayers and cheers from their families and well-wishers.

Then, the Father of the day, Retired Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, congratulated the couple and admonished them to remain steadfast in love, set good examples for their children as their own parents had done, and most importantly, to trust one another whole heartedly.

The couple and guests were entertained with a spectacular display from Eyo masquerades as they thrilled the crowd with dancing and singing.
