Turkey: Osimhen Wins First Galatasaray Award

Victor Osimhen is off to a flying start with Galatasaray, snagging his first Turkish Super Lig award just after joining the team on a season-long loan from Napoli.

His stunning goal against Kasımpaşa earned him the Goal of the Week title from beIN SPORTS, with an impressive 77.96% of the total votes.

Osimhen’s impressive performance didn’t stop there. He scored his first goal and quickly followed it up with a brace, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to secure a win for Galatasaray, as they let Kasımpaşa come back from a three-goal deficit to tie the game.

Despite missing pre-season due to transfer complications, Osimhen has quickly become a key player for Galatasaray, contributing to goals or assists in all four of his appearances.

His stats are impressive, with two goals and four assists in just four games.

However, Osimhen is currently sidelined with an injury, which forced him to miss the Europa League clash against RFS in Latvia.

Fortunately, his injury isn’t severe, and he’s expected to return soon, possibly in time for Galatasaray’s Super Lig match against Alanyaspor this weekend.

In a recent interview, Osimhen credited Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk for convincing him to join the club.

“Okan Buruk is the key to my transfer,” Osimhen said. “I was incredibly impressed when I spoke to him.”

With his impressive start, speculation is rampant about a potential extension of his loan deal, despite Chelsea’s reported interest in acquiring him for €90 million in the January transfer window.
