The Twitter CEOs call is one of many made by various international groups, organizations, and celebrities from around the world.
In the earlier days of the demonstrations, many young Nigerians took to the streets to protest the brutality and injustice they have encountered at the hands of SARS officials.
This protest subsequently led to the disbandment of the atrocious police subunit by the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Ádámù.
However, two days later, the IGP announced a new unit named SWAT, it was perceived that this team was to take over the operations of SARs, and this did not sit well with the people.
But the move has not doused tension or calm frayed nerves as protesters remain on the street, expressing misgivings over the genuineness and willingness of the police to commit to a complete overhaul and robust reform of the police.
The protesters call for the disbandment of the newly constituted SWAT team, saying it is nothing little more than a window dressing and rebranding exercise.
According to the protesters, the agitation has continued because the decision to immediately replace SARS operatives with SWAT is so sudden.
