Nigerians are currently setting social media ablaze following recent comments made by Senior Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, who said that the 43 slain rice farmers in Zabarmari, did not have military clearance to go to their farms.
Eko Hot Blog had earlier reported on Saturday that rice farmers numbering over forty were dastardly murdered by operatives of the terrorist group, Boko Haram, who rounded up the farmers while they were harvesting their farm produce, beheading some and slitting the throats of others.
The tragic incident has been met with national and international condemnation.
However, in an interview with BBC on Tuesday, the President’s Spokesperson insisted that the truth must be told; the truth being that the murdered farmers did not have military clearance to be on their farms when the sad incident occurred.
Consequently, Nigerians have trouped en masse to social media to condemn Mr. Garba’s comments, questioning his humanity.
Most Nigerians have found it laughable that a presidential mouthpiece, who ought to approach a situation such as this with a bridled tongue could be culpable of making such insensitive remarks.
