Two Arrested For Attacking Vigilante In Ogun
Balogun Opemipo, 26, and Korede Onabanjo, 27, two suspected members of the Aiye Confraternity have been arrested by men of the Ogun State Police Command for an alleged attack on a vigilante.
The suspects reportedly inflicted a serious injury on the vigilante, who challenged them in the night.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
Oyeyemi said the suspects were arrested following a report lodged at the Ijebu-Igbo Divisional Headquarters by one Salami Azeez.
According to the PPRO, Azeez reported that he was contracted as a vigilante in the Aleke area of Ijebu-Igbo.

Oyeyemi stated, “Azeez said while he was on duty around 1.30 am, he saw three boys moving around the area and when he challenged them about their mission in the area at by that hour, they attacked him with iron rods, which they used to inflict a serious injury on his head.
“On the strength of the report, the DPO, Ijebu-Igbo Division, SP Kazeem Solotan, mobilised his patrol team and moved to the scene, where two among the suspects namely: Balogun Opemipo, 26, and Korede Onabanjo, 27, were arrested, while the third one escaped.
“Upon their arrest, the policemen discovered them to be among those on their wanted list for involvement in various cult related clashes in Ijebu-Igbo and its environs.”
The PPRO said during the interrogation, the suspects confessed to being members of the Aiye Confraternity terrorising the area for quite a while.
He added that the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, had directed that the suspects should be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation and subsequent prosecution
