Two people lost their lives, and one was critically injured in an auto crash in Ikorodu, Lagos State, yesterday. The incident occurred when brake failure in one of the vehicles caused a head-on collision between two trucks, one carrying a container and the other empty.

The impact of the crash was severe, with two people trapped but rescued alive, while the other two were thrown from the vehicles and found lifeless. The accident occurred at Powerline, near Cele Bus Stop, Ita-Oluwo, Ikorodu.

Adebayo Taofiq, Director of Public Affairs for LASTMA, confirmed the tragic incident. He stated that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority responded swiftly, working with other agencies to manage the situation.

The survivors were immediately taken to the General Hospital in Ikorodu for medical treatment. LASTMA, alongside the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos Fire Service, and Nigerian Army’s 174 Battalion, played a crucial role in the rescue operation.

The officials secured the accident site, cordoning it off with caution tape to protect the public and allow emergency responders to work efficiently.

The cause of the accident was attributed to brake failure, which led to the tragic collision between the two trucks. The authorities continue to investigate the incident as they work to prevent similar accidents in the future.
