Two Escape, Many Kidnapped as Bandits Ambush 18-Seater Bus on Ekiti Road
- Bandits ambushed an 18-passenger bus near Emure-Owo, abducting many.

EKO HOT BLOG gathers that the incident occurred on Sunday when the assailants ambushed an 18-passenger vehicle near the outskirts of Emure-Owo. The bus was returning from Onitsha when it was attacked.
A representative of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Ado-Ekiti Motor Terminal branch, disclosed that the kidnappers seized the driver, identified as Sunday Emmanuel, along with other passengers.
According to him, the attackers are demanding a ransom of ₦30 million for each victim.

The source stated that the abductors left behind some children on the bus, whose cries caught the attention of passersby early Monday morning.
The incident was promptly reported to the nearest police station.
It was also revealed that two passengers managed to escape during the night before authorities arrived to recover the abandoned vehicle.
“They drove the bus into the bush and forced the passengers to follow them,” the informant explained.
“They contacted the family of the driver. I spoke with him briefly, after which the kidnappers demanded ₦30 million for each victim.
They promised to call back but haven’t done so yet.”

The source added, “The children left behind on the bus were spotted by some farmers who then informed the police in Emure-Owo. The driver’s union in Ado-Ekiti is currently holding a meeting to determine how to negotiate with the kidnappers.”
Channels Television further reported that two of the kidnapped individuals managed to escape while being led into the forest.
