Two Factions of Rivers Assembly Hold Parallel Sittings
The two factions of the Rivers State House of Assembly today held parallel sittings.
At its sitting, the Victor Oko-Jumbo-led House loyal to the State Governor Siminalayi Fubara screened a new commissioner-nominee, Emmanuel Frank-Fubara.
This followed an invitation for him to appear before it for screening and confirmation as a member of the State Executive Council.
During its own sitting, the Martin Amaewhule-led House loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike asked Governor Fubara to represent the 2024 budget within seven days.
You would recall that Governor Fubara had in December last year presented the budget to the house led by a former speaker who is now his Chief of Staff.
While the pro-Fubara lawmakers sat in an improvised Hallowed Chamber at the Government House, Port Harcourt, the pro-Wike legislators sat at the State Assembly official quarters along Aba Road.
