Two Killed As Rival Cult Groups Clash In Lagos
-
Two persons have been killed as rival cult groups clashed in Lagos State.
EKOHOTBLOG reports that two persons have been killed in Ijora Badia in the Apapa-Iganmu Local Council Development Area of Lagos State as rival cult groups engaged in a bloody clash in the state.
It was gathered that one of the deceased, identified as Rotimi Esomojumi, was matcheted to death at Arane Street, located in front of a white garment church, while the other yet-to-be-identified person was killed at Akorede Street.
It was further learnt that the deceased were members of Aiye and Eiye confraternities who have been causing unrest in the Ijora Badia area and its environ.
The cause of the clash could not be ascertained by EKOHOTBLOG, but a source disclosed that one of the cult groups was on a revenge mission to launch a reprisal on Esomojumi, a son of a retired police officer and community leader who resides a few metres away from the scene of the clash.
It was gathered that the clash, which occurred around 4pm on Monday, led to pandemonium in the Lagos community as the cultists shot sporadically, forcing residents to scamper for safety.
It, however, took the intervention of police operatives from Badia Division before normalcy could be returned to the area.
A community leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the corpses have been taken away by the policemen.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, had yet to react to the incident as of press time.
