Two Killed, Police Officer Injured In Ebonyi Communal Clash

Eko Hot Blog reports that two have been confirmed dead and a police officer injured during a communal clash in Ebonyi State.

The communal clash was between the Abaomege and Oshinkwo communities in the Onicha Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement in Abalaliki, Onome Ono, Police Public Relations Officer, said the deceased were killed while returning home after the close of work on Tuesday.

“There were shots at the Abaomege-Oshinkwo communal crises area by Oshinkwo Warriors.

“The victims were rushed to the hospital. Two of the victims were confirmed dead, but the Policeman is responding to treatment,” She explained.

She noted that the command had launched an intensive manhunt for the fleeing suspects.

A relative to one of the victims, who refused to mention his name, decried the lingering crisis in the area and called for the intervention of security agents.
