Two Sentenced to Death by Hanging for Murder, Robbery in Delta

Justice F.O. Enenmo, presiding over the Delta High Court in the Kwale Judicial Division, has handed down separate judgments in cases involving murder and armed robbery, resulting in the conviction of three individuals.

In the case marked HCK/13C/2021, Justice Enenmo convicted Izagwu Obodo for the murder of Nonso Dibia, whom he shot to death on August 21, 2021, in Umu-Itchi Community.

The prosecution, led by C. O. Onoberhie-Oberuomo, presented three witnesses and various exhibits, while the defendant testified without calling any witnesses. Justice Enenmo found Obodo guilty and sentenced him to death by hanging EKO HOT BLOG reports.

 

In a separate case, Justice Enenmo also convicted Mr. Bright Ossai for armed robbery. Ossai was found guilty of robbing Hyacinth Abandi of his Daystar motorcycle while armed with a gun at Owessi Street, Kwale, in Ndokwa West LGA.

According to the prosecution, Ossai was apprehended on the spot after the victim raised an alarm, leading to the police rescuing the victim and recovering the weapon used in the crime.

The court also heard that another motorcycle previously stolen by Ossai and sold to Mr. Ebele Pius in Ossissa, Ndokwa East LGA, was recovered. Justice Enenmo sentenced Ossai to death by hanging, while Mr. Ebele Pius received a sentence of 10 years imprisonment with hard labor or a fine of N500,000,000.

In a third case, marked HCK/57C/2022, Justice Enenmo sentenced Egoyibo Ugbomem to 21 years imprisonment with hard labor for the murder of Chukwemeka Nkere on August 29, 2021.

The court heard that Ugbomem had initially reported to the Aboh Police Station that the deceased had committed suicide by hanging, but an autopsy revealed a blunt force injury on the chest wall. The prosecution presented three witnesses, while Ugbomem testified and called two witnesses in her defense. Justice Enenmo convicted Ugbomem and ruled that the time she spent in custody during the trial would be considered in her sentence.
