Two suspects arrested by youths over ritual killing in Ondo
Two suspected ritualists alleged to have been killing aged women in Akoko areas of Ondo State were apprehended in Arigidi in Akoko North-West area of the state where no fewer than five octogenarian women have been murdered and their breast and other private parts removed by suspected ritualist, who have invaded the area in the last few months.
Women in Akoko had remained indoor following the alarming rate at which old women were murdered and their private parts removed for rituals. Going to churches and mosques at night have stopped for some times for fear of falling victims of the killers.
Police source said that an old woman reportedly raised an alarm that some suspected ritualists entered her room and attempted to kill her. Her distress cry reportedly attracted her neighbours and the men fled the room.
A search team was organised and two suspects were apprehended in a bush at the back of Akoko Anglican Grammar School Arigidi Akoko by some youths.
The suspects were thereafter taken to the palace of Zaki of Arigidi, Oba Yisa Olanipekun, for questioning and they reportedly confessed to the crime.
They equally confessed to have come from Ilorin, Kwara State and from Oka Akoko area of the state. The timely intervention of security agencies stopped them being lynched by the people that trooped to the palace of the traditional ruler.
The two suspects according to sources have been handed over to Divisional Police Office in Okeagbe for further investigation
