EKO HOT BLOG reports that two teens, Kensly Alston, 18, and Halley Tejada, 19, are facing serious charges for allegedly killing a woman they discovered squatting in her late mother’s Manhattan apartment.
Police found the woman’s severely injured body in a bag in her mother’s 19th-floor apartment.
On March 10, she visited the apartment on East 31st Street to leave belongings for her relatives.
Two days later, upon her return, she encountered the intruders and demanded they leave.
During the altercation, one of the teens threatened her, resulting in a fatal struggle. Despite her efforts to flee, the assailants overpowered her, leading to her tragic death.
Two Teens Face Serious Charges In Alleged Murder
After the incident, the teens used her credit card to make purchases before fleeing in her car, buying more items along the way.
Following their car crash in Lower Paxton Township, authorities swiftly arrested them.
Authorities transported them back to New York, where they faced formal charges of murder.
In court, one of the teens tearfully hugged his father before law enforcement escorted him away in handcuffs. Both remain in custody without bail.
According to the police, the apartment had been vacant since the woman’s mother passed away.
“Kensly Alston and Halley Tejada allegedly murdered Nadia Vitels in her own apartment while she was moving in to start a new chapter in her life,” Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said.
“I send my deepest condolences to her friends and family as they continue to mourn her loss. My office will secure justice for Nadia Vitels.”
