U.S Election: Rising Democrats Rally Behind Harris

Three rising Democratic governors has taken the stage in Pennsylvania on Monday morning, addressing delegates in a key swing state.

With just 78 days until the election, the event was not only about rallying support but also offered a glimpse at potential future leaders within the Democratic Party.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, and Illinois Governor JB Pritzker—each seen as potential future presidential candidates—voiced strong support for Vice President Kamala Harris.

They urged Pennsylvanians to mobilize and organize to ensure her victory.

Their appearance and remarks to key Democratic leaders in Pennsylvania also offered a glimpse into the party’s future leadership.

Shapiro, Whitmer, and Pritzker were all considered potential running mates for Harris, highlighting their growing influence and the likelihood of their continued prominence beyond 2024.

EDITOR’S PICK:

Governor Shapiro, speaking to his home-state audience, emphasized his “GSD (getting stuff done)” approach, focusing on issues like education, public safety, jobs, and the protection of personal freedoms and rights.

Shapiro didn’t hesitate to take a jab at former President Donald Trump, saying, “You know what he’s really scared of? Powerful women,” a comment that drew enthusiastic applause from the crowd.

Governor Pritzker showcased his achievements in Illinois, highlighting efforts such as raising the minimum wage, eliminating grocery taxes, cancelling medical debt, reducing prescription drug costs, and increasing teacher pay.

Governor Whitmer delivered a broader message, stressing the critical importance of Pennsylvania in the upcoming election.

She called it one of the key “blue wall” states that will be crucial for the Democrats’ success.

“We gotta do the work. It means showing up and knocking on doors. It means writing the postcards. It means making the phone calls, and sometimes having a difficult conversation in the grocery store checkout line, right? But the stakes are so high,” Whitmer urged the Pennsylvania delegates.
