Uber Driver Conveying Reverend Sister Dies In Lagos

  • A Uber driver has been pronounced dead while conveying a reverend sister in Lagos.

EKOHOTBLOG reports that a Uber driver, Anthony Okafor, has been confirmed dead while conveying a passenger, said to be a reverend sister, to a destination in Lagos State.

It was gathered that the Uber driver picked the woman from the Ikeja airport and started coughing and gasping for breath in the Egbeda area, where he stopped the car.

A source disclosed that his condition worsened as some residents rushed him to a hospital for treatment, adding that Okafor drove a Toyota Camry with number plate EPE 869 GK.

“He was rushed to the Talent Hospital in Egbeda, Lagos State, where he was confirmed dead on Saturday, August 21, 2021,” the source said.

It was further learnt that no mark of violence was found on his body, which was deposited in the morgue of the Mainland General Hospital.

As gathered by EKOHOTBLOG, the incident was confirmed by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu.

Ajisebutu noted that the State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, had ordered a post-mortem to ascertain the cause of death, saying, “The deceased suddenly fell sick while driving. He was immediately rushed to a hospital for medical attention but was confirmed dead at the hospital.

“Although it is a suspected case of sudden and unnatural death, the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has directed that a post-mortem should be carried out to determine the actual cause of death. The case is under investigation,” the police spokesperson stated.
