Harry Kane played a crucial role in helping Bayern Munich secure a 2-2 draw against Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final match held in Germany.
Regrettably, Harry Kane saw limited involvement in the second leg of the tie at the Santiago Bernabéu on Wednesday, May 8. Alphonso Davies played a pivotal role in securing the match’s opening goal for Bayern.
Coach Thomas Tuchel opted to substitute the English international for Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting in the 85th minute.
The majority of football enthusiasts believed that Tuchel’s decision to substitute Kane was aimed at defending their narrow one-goal lead.
Unfortunately, that plan backfired when Real Madrid scored the equalizer just three minutes after Harry Kane was substituted, courtesy of substitute Joselu in the 88th minute.
The erroneous goalkeeping of Manuel Neuer who had made a series of saves in the tie led to the equalizer.
In the 91st minute, Joselu found himself in the perfect position to tap in what ultimately became the match-winning goal.
Following the 4-3 aggregate defeat to Real Madrid, coach Tuchel faced criticism from Bayern Munich fans and other football enthusiasts for his decision to substitute Kane.

While responding to the critics in an interview with TNT Sports, coach Thomas Tuchel said, “We started with a front four and all four had to go out with injury or cramp.
“Kane was having back problems, it was no longer possible. The front four all said they had to go.”
