UEFA Issues Bans, Fines To Seven Euro 2024 Teams For Racist Conduct

UEFA has issued fines and sanctions to seven countries that participated in Euro 2024 due to discriminatory behaviour by their supporters.

Several matches during the tournament were marred by incidents of racism and offensive chants.

On Wednesday, UEFA’s Control, Ethics, and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) announced in a press statement that seven national football associations were charged for misconduct by their fans, with the incidents spanning 17 games in total.

Croatia received a fine of £41,978 and was banned from selling tickets to away fans for their next UEFA competition match due to their supporters’ racist and discriminatory actions in all three Group B matches.

Similarly, Romania’s FA was fined £33,583 and also barred from selling tickets to away fans for their next UEFA match after comparable incidents across three of their games.

In addition, the football associations of Hungary, Slovenia, and Serbia were handed the same punishment for their fans’ racist and discriminatory conduct.
