British government has summoned Russia’s ambassador on Wednesday, denouncing an “unprecedented and unfounded public campaign of aggression” from Moscow.
This came after Russia’s FSB revoked the accreditation of six British diplomats, accusing them of espionage and sabotage—claims Britain called “malicious and completely baseless.”
A Foreign Office spokesperson said, “This pattern of behaviour is completely unacceptable, deeply unprofessional, and beneath the standards of conduct between states,” urging Russia to “stop this activity immediately.”

The spokesperson also described Russia’s actions as part of a deliberate campaign aimed at undermining UK security, democracy, and its support for Ukraine.
They cited disinformation, sabotage in Europe, and harassment of diplomatic missions in Russia as tactics used by Moscow.
The expulsion of British diplomats escalated tensions just as British Prime Minister Keir Starmer prepared to meet U.S. President Joe Biden at the White House.
Talks centered on approving Kyiv’s use of long-range missiles against Russia, though no announcement on the missiles followed the meeting.
