Effective immediately, care workers entering the UK on Health and Care Worker visas are prohibited from bringing their dependants with them.
The government frames this decision as a crucial step in achieving its ambitious goal of achieving the largest migration cut in history.
The Home Secretary, James Cleverly, has spearheaded efforts to introduce new legislation aimed at reducing migration.
Among these proposed legislation is an increase in the minimum salary criteria for skilled worker visas, raising it from £26,000 to £38,700.
Cleverly informed parliament that the previous year’s application of similar restrictions potentially led to a decrease of 300,000 migrants annually.
Despite the heightened wage requirement for skilled worker visas, individuals with health and social care visas will be exempted.
